Crock Pot Recipe Contest Winners!!



I am so excited to announce our winning crock pot recipes. There were some really awesome entries and I was thoroughly impressed with you guys!! I am so glad that I did not have to pick the winners as I would not have been able to pick. I am getting these all together and will make them into a FREE downloadable PDF cookbook that you guys can print out!! I know that you are going to love them. Here are our lucky winners: 
Third Place-
Pulled Pork with Root Beer Barbecue Sauce-Tory Anders
2 1/2 lb pork sirloin roast
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp cooking oil
2 med onions -- cut in thin wedges
1 cup root beer
2 tbsp minced garlic
3 cup root beer
1 cup bottled chili sauce
8 hamburger buns

Sprinkle meat with the salt and pepper. In a large skillet brown roast on all sides in hot oil. Drain. Add onions, the 1 cup root beer, and garlic. Cover; cook on low-heat setting for 8-10 hours or on high-setting for 4-5 hours.
Meanwhile, for sauce, in a medium saucepan combine the 2 cans or bottles of root beer and bottled chili sauce. Bring to boiling; reduce eat. Boil gently, uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes or until mixture is reduced to 2 cups.
Second Place-
Kielbasa Soup- Kami Tucker
Makes 8 servings...

16 oz package frozen mixed vegetables, or you r preference.
6oz can tomato paste
1 medium onion, chopped
3 medium potatoes, diced
1.5 lbs kielbasa, cut in quarter inch pieces
4 qts water
Fresh parsley
1. Combine all ingredients except parsley in large slow cooker.
2. Cover. Cook on Low 12 hours.
3. Garnish individual servings with fesh parsley.
Also good with cornbread.



First Place- 
Chicken Tortilla Soup-Elaine West

2 Cans (14 1/2 oz each)  fat free chicken broth
3 c cubed cooked chicken
2 c frozen corn
1 can (10 3/4 oz) tomato puree
1 can diced tomatoes & green chilies
1 med. onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minched
1 bay leaf
1 to 2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp salt
1/2 to 1 tsp chili powder
1/8 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
4 white or yellow corn tortillas (6 in) cut into 1/4 in strips

In slow cooker, combine everything but the tortillas. Cover and cook on low for 4 hrs. Place the tortilla strips on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 5 minutes; turn. Bake 5 min longer. Discard bay leaf from soup. Serve with tortilla strips.
